Our CF Bridge of Hope volunteers are vital to the work we do. Volunteers support our patients and their families by generously providing airport pick-ups, meals during their stay, local housing and transportation, and translation services.

Volunteer Testimonial

“My family and I have been a part of an interfaith group that has provided support services – housing, transportation and meal delivery services – in support of many of the Bridge of Hope patients who’ve come to the US for CF treatment.  Through this, we have had the honor and privilege of getting to know a number of the CF Bridge of Hope’s patients and their parents over the last five years.

Their stories are remarkable journeys of love, courage, determination and hope.

A desperate father in Georgia (the country) who google-searched in Russian his son’s symptoms, worked out the likelihood of CF, packed up bags and son and traveled to a third country where neither of them spoke a word of the native language, in the hopes of tracking down Dr Sadeghi who was scheduled to speak at a conference.

A teenager who google-searched his own symptoms similarly figured out the likelihood of CF, contacted Dr Sadeghi directly, and made his way to a provincial hospital able to connect to Dr Sadeghi by Skype – a bridge of hope enabled by technology.

A Central American mother who already lost one son to CF, whose other son has access to the medical equipment, live saving drug therapies, and nutritional program to enable him to live to adulthood.  He wants to study to become a doctor.

Spending time with the Bridge of Hope families has enabled our family to appreciate the gifts of life, health and above all hope.  It has been a priceless gift of example and of perspective to us.  The determination of these kids and their parents to live, to experience life and love and laughter, and to give back to their families and communities, brings everything else into proper focus.”
